FOREWORDThe first INTOSAI EDP Directory, incorporating details about IT related activities and resources of various SAIs, was published in 1994. This edition achieved its objective of promoting valuable information interchange among SAIs and led to a demand for a new and updated version of the directory, with the inclusion of new SAIs. This led to the compilation of the 2nd version on the basis of a multilingual survey, which was made available to all INTOSAI members in 1998. The XVI INCOSAI decided in 1998 that this Directory would be updated once in every three years to coincide with the INTOSAI Congress. The present edition of the Directory is its fourth and is also based upon a survey questionnaire that was circulated to all SAIs. It has been released as a CD, in an HTML format, with the aim of enhancing its user-friendliness. It is hoped that the available hyper linking will help save time and provide significant volumes of information about the use and audit of IT globally by other SAIs. This will undoubtedly open new vistas for bilateral and multilateral partnerships. The directory is rich in information relating to "EDP Environment", "IT strategy" "Audit of EDP Research Projects of the Committee" and "Training and Funding". An additional feature of this directory is the coverage of 7(seven) new EDP research projects. I am confident that this new version of the directory will prove to be informative to member SAIs. I would like to avail of this opportunity to thank all SAIs who responded to the survey questionnaire and helped make this project successful.
